seasonal living

After the headiness of summer with its holidays and festivals, it feels good to slow a little and perhaps take some time to reconnect with the inside of our homes and of ourselves.

This is the third year we have closed the store for a few weeks over the summer, and i am so glad that we do.

It allows us to take precious time off with friends and family, indulge in some fun and escape from normality for a while.

The fresh eyes i have when returning from a holiday, however short are always interesting, feeling grateful for what i have come back to, but also perhaps shining a light on things that are not quite working for me either at home or just in day to day life.

So it makes sense to me that we have a re-set in September, shifting our energy to where we need it to be for the rest of the year, perhaps getting us back on track if we have drifted from intentions we had set for ourselves.

As well as the deep cleaning and general sorting that i do at this time, giving myself the quiet time to be in the studio and really think about what we are doing as a business, and checking that it all feels right for where we are now is so important, ensuring that we are not just sleepwalking through what we do on autopilot.

Some of the thoughts coming up this year are around sustainability and really checking that we are supporting conscious consumption, something i wrestle with as a retailer and designer very often, so expect further improvement in this area from us in the coming months.

The full time introduction of the preloved clothing has been really welcomed by you all and has lead to some lovely conversations and its so nice to see these pieces moving on to new wardrobes.

All the new stock is being gathered now ready for the Autumn event on the 5th October.

We will continue with our seasonal pop ups as we love the energy and joy they bring, as well as the chance for us all to connect.

Working in this seasonal pattern, letting the feel of the store be lead by nature, as well as our homes reflect and be guided by this principal reminds us that we are part of a bigger picture and gently puts us back in our place, as well as serving as a reminder to respect and admire its beauty.

You will see many Autumnal hues in store now bringing a little more depth and richness into our designs and reflecting this stunning seasonal palette.

I hope you are all rested and recharged from your summer, and looking forward to Autumn and all its beauty.

See you soon,

Sarah
